Refugee Futures
Refugee Futures is a service for refugees and their families who need help and support to find accommodation and then to live successfully in their new homes in Nottingham.
The service is provided by three well known local agencies experienced in meeting the needs of refugees. Refugee Futures floating support service has been created through the combined skills, experience and services of Tuntum Housing Association, NNRF (Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Refugee Forum) and CCA (Co-operative Community Action).
Refugee Futures will provide you with a support worker who will plan with you the help you want. This may include helping you to:
- Find somewhere decent to live – we can start to work with you before you leave NASS accommodation making sure you don’t become homeless;
- Claim and receive all the benefits you are entitled to – including Housing Benefit to pay your rent;
- Manage your home successfully – for example helping you to understand your tenancy agreement, get repairs done and get hold of furniture, plan to pay your bills;
- Access services including health, schools and resource centres such as our own at NNRF and CCA;
- Find the education, and training opportunities you need – for example, to improve your English and develop your skills;
- Find a job – so you can become more financially independent;
- Look at volunteering opportunities;
- Develop your own support networks – for example, staying in touch with other people from your community and culture;
- Get to know your local community services and amenities.
When necessary we will provide interpreters and translations of forms and other information.
We will work in a way that respects and values your wishes, culture and experiences, helps you integrate into your new community and build a successful future in Nottingham.
