Floating Support
Floating Support has been one of our flagship services since we gained funding from
Nottingham City Council for its provision in 2003. We provide our clients, some of whom have mental health issues or learning difficulties, with outreach support, advice on a wide range of subjects, up-to-date information on what other help and facilities are available to them in the area, alongside constant support. This provision evolved into the Getting Through project when a successful consortium bid came into operation in 2008. That same year we also began offering support directly to refugees through the Refugee Futures program.
We currently provide support to a number of individuals and deliver a range of services that includes the following:
- Assistance with resettlement issues
- Welfare rights advice, DSS benefits and financial administration (assisting with banking difficulties)
- We also assist with developing routines and structures in order to maintain physical standards in the home and we help with tenancy issues such as repairs or rent/council tax arrears
- We encourage our service users to pursue learning, training, education and employment opportunities
- We deliver life skills guidance and encourage service user inclusion in local community-based initiatives, leisure/social activities and offer networking opportunities
The housing support team now compromises a dedicated group of employees: one team leader and three support workers. It is hoped that in the forthcoming year we will increase the client base and secure an even larger contract with supporting people.
Who can use our services?
The service can be used free of charge by anyone within the community. For example, City Council tenants, Housing Association tenants and individuals in private accommodation who are accessing benefits.
