In 2003 CCA secured a contract with supporting people to deliver support to Nottingham City Council housing tenants who are vulnerable/disadvantaged including people with mental health issues and learning disabilities. We currently provide support to a number of individuals and deliver a range of services that includes the following:
- Assistance with resettlement issues
- Welfare rights advice, DSS benefits and financial administration (assisting with banking difficulties)
- We also assist with developing routines and structures in order to maintain physical standards in the home and we help with tenancy issues such as repairs or rent/council tax arrears
- We encourage our service users to pursue learning, training, education and employment opportunities
- We deliver life skills guidance and encourage service user inclusion in local community-based initiatives, leisure/social activities and offer networking opportunities
The housing support team now compromises a dedicated group of employees: one team leader and three support workers. It is hoped that in the forthcoming year we will increase the client base and secure an even larger contract with supporting people.
Who can use our services?
The service can be used free of charge by anyone within the community. For example, City Council tenants, Housing Association tenants and individuals in private accommodation who are accessing benefits.
